Home Dialysis Allows for Full-Time Career and Home Schooling
John Hrivnak’s positive attitude and ambitious demeanor are just two of the reasons he is a Patient Champion. The 41-year-old dialysis patient from Columbus, Ohio continues to work full-time in finance, thanks to his home dialysis treatment that gives him more flexibility in his treatment schedule, and eliminates regular trips to the clinic.
He has been on dialysis since August of 2009, and uses the Liberty® Cycler, a machine that allows him to self-administer his peritoneal dialysis at home while he sleeps. John’s home program is based out of the Fresenius Medical Care Central Ohio East dialysis facility.
John’s end stage renal disease (ESRD) was unexpected, and he began in-center hemodialysis treatments last year. After just two weeks, John transitioned to peritoneal dialysis and credits this modality for enabling him to continue working full-time as a financial analyst.
John was raised in Columbus, Ohio, where he currently resides with his wife and children. During his free time, he helps his wife home-school their three daughters, and spends time with his recently-found biological siblings.
