Managing Supplies

With peritoneal dialysis, you’ll have a number of supplies, including dialysate bags, connectors, and masks. A 3’ X 5’ foot closet or a 10-foot stretch of wall should work. The supply delivery person will bring the boxes in, stack them where you want them, and rotate them so that you always use up the old ones before the new ones. You’ll need to track your supplies and order new ones once a month.

The dialysate bags can’t be allowed to freeze or get too warm, and they need to stay dry. If you keep them in a basement or garage, it’s best to stack them on a pallet to keep them off the ground. Keep in mind, you’ll use some of those bags each day, so having them far away from your PD treatment room won’t be convenient.
