What to Expect

In your first year on dialysis, you’ll learn about your treatment, how to fit it into your daily life, and how to adapt to the changes in your life. Whether you are going to a dialysis center or performing dialysis at home, it does take time to become familiar with the routine. But as dialysis becomes part of your daily routine, you may find that in many ways your life is not so different.

Your health care team will be with you every step of the way. If you have any questions, they will help you. Knowing what to expect can help take away anxiety and prepare you to take on the challenge of treating kidney disease.
