Grandmother Succeeds on Dialysis for 27 Years
When not spending time with her children and grandchildren, Joy Matthews keeps busy by crocheting hats for the homeless.
Joy Matthews is a 65-year old who left her cowgirl lifestyle in Texas to move with her family to the Pacific Northwest. She has been on dialysis for 27 years, and now receives her in-center hemodialysis treatment at Fresenius Medical Care Redmond.
The staff at her clinic says that Joy is "awesome," and that she is a very happy and positive person. Joy is grateful to her doctors and the clinic staff, and says she can't get over how kind and helpful they are.
When she lived in Texas, Joy used to help take care of the horses that she and her husband owned. Her husband still spends a lot of time in Texas and on the road going to rodeos. The couple has one son and one daughter, and several grandchildren. She keeps herself busy by crocheting hats for the homeless, and she also makes baby blankets for her grandchildren.
