Family Man Cooks Up Time with Two Kids

Fresenius Medical Care patient Joe Farrar, pictured second from the right, enjoys spending time with his family.

Joe Farrar, a 35-year old dialysis patient from Lakewood, N.J., doesn’t let dialysis stop him from spending quality time with his children. Joe, who has been on dialysis for just over a year, receives in-center hemodialysis treatments at Fresenius Medical Care Lakewood.

Joe’s passion for life, fatherhood, and his ability to balance treatments with family time are just a few of the reasons he has been an inspiration to other patients.

Joe was born in Bridgeton, N.J., grew up in Asbury Park, N.J. and lived in New Orleans and Virginia before settling back down with his children in Lakewood. He credits his two children for enabling him to keep a positive and optimistic attitude about his life. Whether he’s taking his kids to the park, the movies, or simply staying at home, it’s all about being the best father possible.

Joe also loves to cook, and says that he can whip up just about anything in the kitchen. After all, he doesn’t have to look far for recipe ingredients — he has been working at a local Lakewood grocery store for the past three-and-a-half years.

Fresenius Medical Care is happy to announce that since this profile was written, Joe has received a kidney transplant.
